Very sad. Great little player. In '83 we had him, Goddard and Swindlehurst up front; what we'd give for a front line of that ilk now, eh? Maybe not Sandy Clark though. RIP

Absolutely gutted about this - my favourite foreign WHU player.
Met him once at Upton Park a couple of years ago, when he was back filming a documentary about his career. He was a proper gentleman and clearly loved his time here. Sadly not many of the fans recognised him at the time!
70 games with 17 goals - if only the Mrs hadn't been so homesick!
I didn't realise at the time how lucky I was to watch that great 80's team in action - those were the days!

Sad news indeed , remember his clinching breakaway goal in a 3-2 win at the library about '82 viewed from the rightside of their North Bank RIP .

PD, We were well on top in that final only that Frank Lampard back pass screwed us up. Still a cracking player, remember him scoring a hat trick for us at Notts County

Really enjoyed watching this guy. What you'd call a proper West ham player - quality and skill in abundance. Met him in the supporters club two or three seasons ago as well and seemed a good bloke.

RIP Francois. There is an interview with him in one of those Hammers News (mid 80's), I must dig it out.

Sad news, was one of our better players in a pretty poor era for West Ham.
We had a decent enough group of players with the likes of Devo, Alvin Martin, Paul Godard etc but we terribly inconsistent.,
My favourite memory of Francois was New years Day 1983 when we thumped the Yiddos 3-0 at home. I don't remember him scoring that day but he ran rings around a weary looking Tottenham midfield
RIP old son

Was great for us in the short time he was here, ahead of his time too good for us great passes that the rest of the team couldn't read. Absolutely destroyed us in the 75 Cup winners cup final. Sad news.
